inept that leaving our children in public schools only encourages them to be less than adequate and less than caring individuals in light of bullying and "one size fits all"
kind of educaton. The following paper examines the commentary essay "Homeschooling Saves Your Child From Destruction" by Joel Turtel and then takes the position that Turtel is right, but that
not everyone can homeschool their children. Homeschooling In Turtels (2006) essay he indicates that "Home-schooled kids wont be subject to drugs, bullies, violence, or peer pressure, as they
are in public schools. Home-schooled children who are different in any way wont have to endure cruel jokes and taunts from other children in their classes." This is very true
and is something that makes most people wish to homeschool for learning how to cope in a society that is belittling does not further a positive society. It only teaches
children that society is not really always a kind place. If we wish to change the society, and how people mistreat and belittle one another as adults, the society must
start somewhere and to nurture and build creative, intelligent, and caring individuals teaching them at home is a very powerful option. Turtel (2006) also indicates that, "Home-schooled children do
not have to waste their time memorizing meaningless facts about subjects that bore them, just so they can pass the next dumbed down test to obey and please school authorities."
