that allows one to shop while sick, tired or pressed for time. There is no reason not to buy when all it takes is a quick phone call and a
credit card. And the truth is that these channels make the art of selling look easy. It is therefore not surprising to learn that HSN has fared well. Haber (2000)
reports that Home Shopping Network (HSN) sales were strong in the second quarter of 2000, but did not match the pace of the record-setting first quarter. Revenues for the companys
second quarter which ended on June 30, 2000 rose to $357.7 million (2000, p.8). While the fact that the second quarter was not as successful as its first in 2000,
some have wondered whether it is losing its edge. But executives Mark Bozek and Barry Diller are not concerned (2000). Diller commented: "We see sustained, solid, real growth at
Home Shopping. Were very, very pleased with HSN and their performance " (2000, p.8). Bozek added that HSNs sales are usually greatest during the holiday shopping season, and the next
highest time period is usually January through March (Haber, 2000). He went on to explain that the quarters cannot be adequately compared as much depends on the season. Indeed,
