a long time. The fathers attitudes about his childs abilities can have a direct effect on how the entire family perceives that child. This may be especially true when
the child has a disability. A child with disabilities can cause the father to reassess himself as well as his family life. Many schools have begun offering programs especially for
fathers who have children with disabilities. For example, some schools have discussion groups for fathers to share how a childs disability has changed their own ideas of accomplishment. Some schools
have programs that provide the father the opportunity to be the sole primary care-giver for an extended period of time. [Student, you could add something about how the community organizations
play a role in this issue.] It is also important to involved fathers when they do not live with their families. Some studies indicate that at least 40 percent of
children are living without the presence of their fathers in the home. It has long been known that the father can have a direct positive impact on their childs academic
