whole population, more and more health care services are needed. Scientific and medical discoveries and innovations have led to longer lives. In 1998, Montauk reported: "Home health care is the
fastest-growing expense in the Medicare program because of the aging population, the increasing prevalence of chronic disease and increasing hospital costs" (p. 1608). Montauk (1998) also reported that more patients
and their families were choosing home care more frequently. Montauk (1998) explained: "Home health care is a formal, regulated program of care delivered by a variety of health care professionals
in the patients home" (p. 1608). Today, across America, more than 22,000 agencies provide home care "to more than two million people with physical disabilities, chronic health problems, dementia, or
terminal illnesses" (Rotary Club of Santa Monica, 2005). The result is that patients and their families are left in a quandary - what services are available and how do they
access those service? Some of the many services accessible through home care are: home health care, homemaker services, companionship, personal care, respite services, activity groups, live-in help, support groups
(Rotary Club of Santa Monica, 2005). Case managers are the professionals who can help both the senior or elderly patient and the family who is caring for that person. Most
specifically, a geriatric or elder care case manager is the person to consult when selecting home care services (Rotary Club of Santa Monica, 2005). The geriatric or senior care case
manager will "evaluate your situation, identify solutions, and work with you to design a plan for maximizing your elders independence and well being" (Rotary Club of Santa Monica, 2005). Wingham
Elder Care Agency (fake/hypothetical agency) provides case management for seniors and elders. The Agency recently conducted a survey of care recipients to determine consumer satisfaction with the services provided. The
