The Movie "Home Alone", of first appearance seems to be a simple minded comedy. In actuality, however, the movie has
considerable societal value. This is true not just because it made Macaulay Culkin one of the most memorable child stars of all time. Its true because it reminds,
all be it in a comical way, of just what can happen when we get too caught up in the hustle and bustle of modern life.
The story line of "Home Alone" is pretty simple. An apparently wealthy American family is frantically scurrying around in the days leading up
to Christmas getting ready to depart on their vacation in France. Macaulay Culkin, Kevin in the movie, is sent to his room because he has had a tussle with
his older brother. Because his room is on the third floor of the house, it seems, once Kevin is out of site, he is out of mind. The
next morning, the family gets up and leaves on vacation without him! Until we examine "Home Alone" from the perspective of kairos, forgetting
about a child may seem preposterous. Unfortunately, as the news attests, it happens on a much too frequent basis in American society. Children are left behind when families
