has been something of a post that stood, and still does stand, between many cultures and many regions of the world. As such it has a rich history from a
cultural, political and religious standpoint. It is a region that is filled with rich diversity, as well as a region that has long possessed religious, political and social unrest due
to the diversity of people and ideas. Generally speaking Sudan is separated in many ways, with the northern parts of Sudan primarily
being the Sudan that much of the rest of the world deals with, and the southern part of Sudan remaining more true to traditions and diversity. Or as one author
indicates, "The southerners, consisting of Nilotic and Sudanic peoples, largely follow traditional religious beliefs, although some are Christian; they practice shifting cultivation or are pastoralists, and most speak Nilotic languages"
(Watkins, 2007). Within the Sudan is a tribe of Africans who seem to have remained true to their culture in many ways, despite pressures from the outside and immediate world.
