from the religious views which do not seek the same level of proof or evidence. Historical Jesus appear to have grown up in a poorer area of Palestine, learned and
bettered himself, studying the scripture and becoming literate, possibly in Hebrew as well as Aramaic, been active in the Jewish faith attending Synagogue and suffered death due to his ability
to unpopularity with the Romans due to his preaching.. There are many unknown elements, there is even disagreement over the year in
which he was born Theissen and Merz (1998) argue that there is no certain date, but point out that the gospels of Matthew and Luke both agree that the birth
was during the lifetime of Herod the Great (Matthew 2.1, and Luke 1.5), this means that his birth was likely to be before the spring of year 4 BCE1.
However, there is also some date of the reliability of the chronological ordering of events in Matthew (Theissen and Merz, 1998). In Luke 2.1 there is also the reference to
the birth taking place in the time of the census of Quirinius, this was in 6 CE2, however even with some uncertainty even if there is some confusion, but most
texts agree the birth was likely to be before 4 BCE (Johnson, 1986). This gives us a timescale and as such as social and political context in the time Jesus
