Judaism is based to some extent on Christs appearance, Christ does not take center stage in those biblical religions. Thus, Christianity today is based on religions that include various sects
of Protestantism and Catholicism. Of course, Christianity has evolved over time. In early Western civilization Christianity was quite different than it is today. Lampman (2005) goes through Christian history and
explains that scriptures in Judaism are equated with the Torah and other writings. The Bible had also been translated into Greek (Lampman, 2005). When Christ came along, and attracted Jewish
followers, they not only took it to mean that the prophesy was fulfilled, but they fundamentally interpreted the Old Testament in a different way from how a Jew might, subscribing
different meanings to Old Testament literature (Lampman, 2005). The Greek translation would emphasize this Christian interpretation and would include allegorical meanings (Lampman, 2005). Again, Jews who did not follow Christ
would hold onto their original bibles as meaning something a bit different. Christians effectively "found references to Jesus where Jews saw other meanings" (Lampman, 2005, p.15). Yet, it was not
enough and a new authority emerged in the form of the New Testament (Lampman, 2005). One can see that early Christianity is based to a large extent on the biblical
teachings of the Old Testament. Christ, of course, was Jewish. At the same time, it does become clear that he added a great deal and threw out a lot of
the dictums in the Old Testament. That said, the Old Testament continues to serve as a document for Christians today. Yet, it seems to have been more pertinent years ago,
