in English, who was born in 551 BCE (Robinson, Confucianism, 2002). Taoism was founded by was Lao-Tse, who lived between 604-531 BC and was a contemporary of Confucius (Robinson, Taoism,
2002). Robinson reports that Taoism really began as a combination of philosophy and psychology but by 440 AD, it had evolved into a religion (Robinson, Taoism, 2002). At that time,
Taoism was adopted as a state religion in China (Robinson, Taoism, 2002). In fact, all three of these religions became the three major religions in China (Robinson, Taoism, 2002). This
was true until 1911 at which time the Ching Dynasty ended and much of the Taoist heritage was destroyed in the ensuing years of warlordism (Robinson, Taoism, 2002). Between 1966
