million gods in the Hindu pantheon. However, Hindus believe in on Supreme Being and all these millions of gods and goddesses are symbols or creations or representations of forces of
the Supreme Being, Brahman (Gurudeva, n.d.). In fact, many Hindus have been taught that these millions of gods and goddesses are not real beings, they are merely symbols of different
spiritual issues (Gurudeva, n.d.). There are at least four different sects in Hinduism, including pantheistic, monotheistic, polytheistic, agnostic, or atheistic so certain practices may differ depending on the primary concepts
of the religion (Wenner, 2001). Gurudeva (n.d.) explains the denominations within Hinduism differently: "Saivism, Shaktism, Vaishnavism, Smartism." The common belief systems beyond reincarnation, finding morality, caste system, merging with Braham
and reaching Nirvana (Wenner, 2001). This author states that: "According to Hindu scriptures, ones ignorance of the true nature of the self (atman) as one with Brahman is what traps
one in the cycle of endless death and reincarnation (samsara)" (Wenner, 2001). The phrase "as one with Braham" suggests that Hindus believe a goal is to for deity and worshipper
to merge . This would seem to be a level in ones spiritual development, in fact, it would be the final level on earth since Nirvana is what comes after
death. Bowen (1998) said that Hindus believe it is a blessing to see the image of the deity, especially when that image, e.g., statue is decorated or adorned with
