The first question asked by the student is, "1. Considering that Hinduism lacks a uniting belief system, what makes up the Hindu religion?" According to one
author, "Hinduism has commonly been viewed in the west as a polytheistic religion - one which worships multiple deities: gods and goddesses. Although a widespread belief, this is not particularly
accurate" which illustrates its diversity, a condition that has made it popularity (Religious Tolerance, 2007). It is a religion that is also considererd monotheistic because it does recognize a supreme
God: "the panentheistic principle of Brahman, that all reality is a unity" (Religious Tolerance, 2007). However, there is also the perspective that
claims it is a Trinitarion religion due to the fact that Brahman is often seen as a triad (Religious Tolerance, 2007). From the most basic foundation, however it is considered
henotheistic in light of the fact that it is a religion that recognizes one diety, but also recognizes other goddesses and gods which are all facets of manifestations of the
supreme God (Religious Tolerance, 2007). And, it is generally assumed that the Hindus follow one of two traditions. They are Vaishnavaism (regards Vishnu as the primary diety) or Shivaism (regards
