Chronic Disease Prevention & Health Promotion reported that 23.4 percent of residents in the state of California had been advised they had high blood pressure (CDC, 2006). The confidence interval
for the data was 21.9 - 24.9 (CDC, 2006). In terms of numbers, of the sample, 1,137 people were told they had high blood pressure and 3,337 (76.6 percent) were
told they did not have high blood pressure (CDC, 2006). In that same year, the national median percentage of persons told they had high blood pressure was 24.8 percent (CDC,
2006). The national data included all 50 states and the District of Columbia (CDC, 2006). The following graph and table provide visual cues to compare the data more easily.
