And Affordable Care Act (ACA) is constitutional, it is a moot point. What is commonly referred to as Obamacare is a law and a massive one at that. True, there
are still some states trying to have parts of the law ruled unconstitutional but it does not seem they will succeed. One of the most important and most positive aspects
of the ACA has to do with pre-existing conditions. Health insurance companies have historically refused insurance to individuals who have pre-existing conditions. The new law forbidding insurance companies to refuse
children with pre-existing conditions took effect immediately and it will apply to everyone in 2014 (Amadeo, 2012; Duncan, 2012). This is a significant positive impact of the ACA. A sister
mandate is that insurance companies cannot drop someone if they get sick (Amadeo, 2012). This is a safety net for everyone. For years, we have all heard the stories of
people having to go into bankruptcy because of extremely high medical bills. Health insurance companies place maximum benefits on their plans. Once the company has paid that amount, the rest
must be paid by the patient. Beginning in 2014, nobody will have to go into bankruptcy and lose everything because they got sick with a very expensive disease. There can
be no maximum coverage for physical or mental health care costs. Insurance companies will be required to provide a minimum amount of coverage to be accepted under the ACA but
no maximum (Duncan, 2012). There are extra benefits for American Indians. Roxeane Spruce Bly an the American Indian Health care advocate said that under the ACA, the federal government
