have a card that enables them unlimited resources in health care. People who once died of heart attacks are getting triple, quadruple and even quintuple bypasses. Such heart operations were
only talk years ago and now, it seems that there is a fix for many ailments that were devastating a century ago. While that is the case, medicine around the
world is not state of the art by any means. It is only in the built up West where residents receive the best of care. In delving back more than
a century, and to a setting that is not renown for its advances in medicine, one has to wonder what life was like in early Russia. How were medical situations
handled in the nineteenth century there? Specifically between 1860, when the world was on the verge of an industrial revolution, to 1904 which is before the communists would seize control,
how did Russian peasants fare? It should be noted that the years mentioned denote a certain important time period in Russian history. It was during this time that industrial urbanization
in the West had defined the nineteenth century, and comparable developments in Russia took place within even a shorter time span (Gleason, 1990). Defeat in the Crimean War, a war
