suing McDonalds because their children are overweight, the foods that people consume becomes important. Aside from obesity--or at the opposite extreme anorexia--even otherwise healthy individuals do not eat properly. Many
people wonder whether or not the processed foods they consume are healthy and they want to improve their health. They also wonder whether or not they should try high protein
diets or other fads that contain many questionable claims. Because many issues have cropped up in respect to nutrition in recent years, there have been many scams and weight
loss promises proliferated by unscrupulous vendors. While that is true, and many people are duped, the problem goes beyond fad diets and weight loss. Nutrition is the basis for human
health and well being, and this is true both in the emotional and physical realms. With poor eating habits, people find that they lack energy and are not living up
to their full potential. While true, athletes do take advantage of the new knowledge fostered by the medical community and its extended media comrades who jump on any new information.
Although some of the study data is quite informative, it is important to put the information in proper context, and review nutritional claims with some skepticism. However, understanding the basics
of nutrition and how it affects the mind and body is relevant for everyone. II. Basic Facts About Nutrition, Calories and Weight Control
