policy issues involves the possibility of a mandatory flu shot, most specifically a mandatory flu shot for those who work in the health industry. While others are arguing how, "Although
many employers are more concerned about the H1N1 flu virus, also known as swine flu, the numbers indicate that regular flu is a far greater concern" which urges many to
further endorse, if not force, flu shots (HR Focus, 2009; 12). The following paper offers a reaction to an article in the Washington Post titled "Mandatory Flu Shots Hit Resistance."
Health Policy and the Flu Shot With the clear scare of the swine flu in the nation today there are many
people who are clearly urging, pressuring, and attempting to force people to get flu shots. In Rob Steins article, Mandatory Flu Shots Hit Resistance, he indicates, "With the H1N1 pandemic
spreading rapidly, hundreds of thousands of doctors, nurses, orderlies and other U.S. health-care workers for the first time are being required to get flu shots, drawing praise from many public-health
authorities but condemnation from some employees, unions and other critics who object to mandatory vaccination" (Stein, 2009).Such information clearly suggests that that there are many opinions about mandatory flu shots.
And, the author points out that many people in the health industry do not regularly get flu shots, which is what perhaps urged this push towards mandatory shots in the
first place. There is clearly a logical argument that if the health care workers do not get flu shots, and an large outbreak of the flu, more specifically
