done in decades; he passed a bill that starts reforming the health care system in the United States. The new bill, while far from perfect, is an important step toward
reforming a health care industry that is overpriced, cumbersome, and in most cases, failing its patients. In 2000, the World Health Organization ranked the U.S. health care system 37th in
its standings, just behind Costa Rica and only two step above the much-maligned Communist Cuba (The World Health Organizations ranking of the worlds health systems, 2000). The average American pays
more for health care than anyone else in the industrialized nations, but doesnt get the care commensurate with that expense. There is tremendous room for improvement and that is what
the new law hopes to do. This paper considers some of the aspects of the new law including how it will impact the current health care system, what it
will cost, who supports it and who opposes it. Discussion Researching a topic like this is depressing because although its about health, the political screaming is deafening and many of
the claims from conservatives about the "damage" this law will do are simply untrue. Its sad to think that many people who could benefit under reform may have been misled
to the point where they will support the Republicans announced plans to repeal the new Act, returning things to the status quo. Because there is so much information, we
