services and no one likes to make cuts or lose their jobs, but this is often a part of a new paradigm. Health care is particularly vulnerable due to the
economic crisis that affects all sectors of society. Yet, when exploring this niche, it is important to apply general management concepts. While it may be true that health care management
is a special field, when discussing motivation and the relevance of altering organizational culture, there are certain methods that seem to work for any type of business. A case study
submitted by a student provides some information about a proposed merger and asks how the newly formed organization will be run effectively. How can morale be improved? What will happen
to corporate culture? Many things need to be considered when health care organizations merge. By paying attention to the needs of employees as well as other stakeholders, the merger can
be successful. II. Case Study A case study provided by a student sees a middle manager in a health care organization as
being a part of a merger with a pervious competitor. This is not an unusual situation. Firms compete but mergers and acquisitions happen, and so, sometimes workers are faced with
