occupations. The proliferation of health professions is driven by scientific and technological advances, which have brought with them the need for persons with specific training. For example, medical and dental
insurance companies require all services to cite the proper and specific code for that service, thus, the need for medical coders. These specialties are intended to make health care
more efficient and more effective (Just Answer, 2009). It makes the field more fragmented, also, but medicine itself has become so much more complex that one doctor can not possibly
know everything (Just Answer, 2009). This is why there are so many specialty areas in medicine. There are both positives and negatives to this situation. Patients see doctors who specialize
in their specific illness and thats good but the primary care physician, if there is one, never sees the whole picture at once (Just Answer, 2009). The problem with this
is that one disease has an effect on another and the necessary drugs for the different illnesses may lead to danger. Furthermore, in just the physician areas, there is a
disconnect between patient and doctor. The personalization of having a family doctor gets lost in this fragmented field. We find new professions or occupations in every major sub-area
in health care. For instance, cardiology is a huge sector these days and here, we have a cardiologists, nurses who specialize in cardiology, surgeons, and technicians all specializing in this
area of medicine. We find another entire set of professions in pediatric care. This fragmentation is not a new issue. The World Health Organization began talking about the need
