of salespersons, Linda went beyond the ethical line. The reason for Lindas actions are most certainly related to the fact that she was charging Poseidon more than the going accommodation
for slippage, which was 1/10th of 1 percent. The second ethical issue is the interest rate Linda established, which was significantly higher than needed for profitability. In fact,
it was 80 basis points higher than needed or appropriate to hedge the banks positions. As the trader noted, the highest she/he had ever seen was $2.3 million but Lindas
deal with Poseidon left them with $12.5 million to hedge the risk. Third, Linda directly lied to the CFO of FirstAmerica about the net profits on the deal. The trader-author
faces a number of personal ethical issues, also. First, there is his upbringing and his religious commitments to be fair and honest in all dealings, personal and professional. To blindly
follow Lindas orders places this persons entire sense of self at jeopardy. Putting it another way, in all probability, he will not be able to live with himself if he
follows orders and faxes information that is at best misleading. Another ethical dilemma for the author-trader is the fact that he has been trained throughout his life to follow
the directions of superiors and to be a team-player. If the deal goes through, the company will benefit with a very large profit, Linda will realize a huge bonus and
