they are incredibly popular stories concerning the struggles and successes of one young boy, Harry Potter. They are both stories which present us with historical events, as well as stories
which offer the reader a trip into the world of fantasy. In the following paper we discuss these similarities, first providing a general look at Joanne Rowlings book "Harry Potter
and the Sorcerers Stone," and then "Beowulf," and then providing a look at the connections between the two as they relate to content, historical perspective and the main characters.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone Even though this book takes place is presumably modern times it has the feel and the flavor of a medieval tale due to
the presence of wizards and other magical characters. The modern day environment is only there to serve as an element which can connect the present day readers to the magical
world of fantasy through history. It is a tale that combats evil with the righteous, a tale that illustrates how the humble succeed, and a tale of conquering evil.
In Harry Potters struggle through this particular novel, we note that he does not live with his parents any longer, though the connection is very important. He is of a
great lineage in that his parents were magical. His parents were killed, something he must somehow remedy, and he is being raised by his aunts. He does not know the
fame of his own person, as the son of these fighters, and knows nothing of his power. However, over time he is instructed and he learns, humbly, of his own
