in mind, and in such explication the ideals and the traditions of a past society, which comprise Hamlets world, are not necessarily considered accurately or thoroughly. This is perhaps crucial
when examining if Hamlet was a righteous or unrighteous man. The following paper examines the character of Hamlet and discusses whether he was righteous or unrighteous. The paper stresses that
he was righteous. Hamlet: Righteous or Unrighteous There are many stages that Hamlet goes through in this particular play, and many incidents that involve his position as possibly
righteous or unrighteous. The beginning of the play essentially has Hamlet returning home because his father is dead. Hamlet is sorrowed deeply and is somewhat upset with his mother for
marrying so quickly, and marrying her brother-in-law as well. This is one perspective that a reader can examine Hamlets righteousness or unrighteousness. For example, one could see that he
is righteous in being angered at the fact his mother married so quickly, and also angered that she married her dead husbands brother. However, without really knowing the history of
the past and what the traditions were at the time, which is not part of this paper because the only source being used is Shakespeares text, one cannot say he
was righteous or unrighteous. In the eyes of the modern reader he would appear quite righteous for that is not something people do unless there was some past that indicated
