volunteers. One of its most famous supporters are former President and Mrs. Jimmy Carter (Habitat for Humanity, 2009e). Individuals and many different kinds of groups donate money to the organization and, in turn, the organization provides no-interest mortgage loans to families (Habitat for Humanity, 2009e). They do not make any profit on the homes. Different arrangements are made in countries where the normal procedures do not work. The organization builds simple and affordable homes (Habitat for Humanity, 2009c). In recent years, the organization has been constructing homes that are as energy efficient as possible (Habitat for Humanity, 2009c). The focus is always the low-income population but the organization might build homes for persons who have lost theirs in major disasters, natural or man-made and persons who do not really have a home, such as replacing a mud house with a more stable home. The organizations goals are lofty. The overriding goal is for every adult and child to live in a safe and comfortable, albeit simple, home (Habitat for Humanity, 2009c). The goal for Egypt is to help 10 percent of the more than 20 million poor people by 2023 (Wei-Skillern and Herman, 2007). That is not the entire goal, the organization wants to help the other 90 percent as well (Wei-Skillern and Herman, 2007). They may succeed because the model for Egypt is different than in other countries. Here, they work collaboratively and in partnership with other NGOs, including CEOSS (Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services) as well as with other local organizations (Wei-Skillern and Herman, 2007). Habitat usually works with its affiliate organizations (Wei-Skillern and Herman, 2007). Habitat needs to engage in more partnerships if they are going to meet their goals.
