employees strengths and weaknesses. None of these methods were very good - the newly hired employee had to undergo a steep learning curve. On the appraisal end, if "negative" feedback
was received, there really was no way to understand how to correct it, or if the employee was going to get any help in doing so.
In recent years, more emphasis has been placed on training new employees through methods in addition to the standard orientation. Furthermore, when it comes to performance assessments,
this is a field that has received some study as well. In this paper, well carefully examine these areas of human resources management
and development, and determine what makes an effective training program and an effective evaluation. Training New Employees New employees on their first day
are scared. They dont know what to expect. Theyre not familiar with the workplace culture, theyre not certain what types of jobs theyll be asked to do, and theyre uncertain
about whether theyll get along with their coworkers or not. This is where a well-developed program can come into play. But instead
of the program, what they likely get is "orientation," which consists of a two-hour session with the "personnel director." During this time, the personnel director will review the employee handbook
