out the undesirables. However, in this day and age, and in many organizations, human resources and human resource management has become an important
tool in strategic management of an overall organization. This is especially the case in the event of a corporate restructuring; a human resource management plan can be aligned with the
organizations strategic plan to ensure that the correct people are put in the correct jobs, that they have the training necessary to do their jobs well, and that they are
compensated fairly for the work they do. This is the same, whether the organization is a for-profit corporation or a health care facility
or system. If a health care system undergoes a corporate restructuring, human resource management deals with various issues such as recruitment and retention, training and development, compensation and benefits, performance
management and regulatory compliance. Though corporate restructuring can be thought of downsizing, rightsizing or any other "sizing," the actual definition involves a
basic change in both direction and strategy that would impact the way in which an organization is structured (Business Definition for Corporate Restructuring). This could involve reducing/increasing layers of personnel
between the top and bottom of an organization, or re-delegating roles, jobs and responsibilities; and it typically occurs after poor results or unsatisfactory performance (Business Definition for Corporate Restructuring).
In a hospital for example, corporate restructuring could focus on anything from changing the strategy from a community hospital to a surgery center,
