This 18 page paper examines the human resource management strategy of the well known fast foods chain McDonalds. The paper starts by examining the model of HRM that is followed arguing that there is both a hard approach with the Matching model as well as a softer approach with the resources based view. strategy. If we look at a well known company that is in the UK and many other countries and is also a company many student work for we can choose
to examine the well known fast food chain McDonalds. This company has an interesting history. The company began with a salesman; Ray Kroc, he had heard of a California hamburger
stand that was using eight of the milkshake machines (Multimixers) that he was selling at the time. Ray Kroc went to see this hamburger stand and was amazed at how
quickly all the customers were being served. This gave him an idea. With this idea he went to the brothers that owned the stores and sold them on the idea
of opening several more restaurants, to each he could sell an additional eight Multimixers. The brothers; Dick and Mac McDonald, asked him who would open the restaurants, and Ray Kroc
volunteers. The first restaurant was opened in 1955 in Des Plaines and growth was rapid aided by the use of franchising. It is with the use of organic growth followed
by the use of franchises. This is the position in the UK, where many of the stores are run as franchises but all have to follow the same highly controlled
model. 2. McDonalds HRM Strategy The company is well known for having a large level of students or younger employees who move onto other jobs, but these are not the
only employees and the way in which standards are maintained in such as dynamic environment can be a challenge. There are different types of model can look at and consider
