with change. Although this case is using the example of small independent restaurant the same theories may b applied to other types of business.
The issue of motivation will considered first. The business is small and the family that run the business have paid little attention to the staff. Instead they
have been considering ways to make the business more successful. The issue of motivation has always been left to the restaurant manager, but this is a position that has been
vacant for a few weeks after that last manager left. The family feel that the staff should be doing their jobs in the same way that have always been doing
them. However, this has become difficult, as they are becoming de-motivated, they may be collecting their wages, but without the restaurant manager the complaints have includes factors such as the
staff do not feel it is as much fun working and they do not enjoy their jobs, that they feel more pressured and that the owners do not care about
them. In return the behaviour patters are changing, the staff are not as attentive to the customers, they are turning up for work late and when they are at work
they are less like to put in as much effort as before. The motivation may be seen as the lack of tools seen
in the human relations school of thought. The manager used to talk to the staff, make sure they were OK, arrange the rota so that they had time off that
