without experiencing dread over exam time and preparation for examinations can be helpful in relieving stress. There are some preparatory steps that students can take prior to the "cram
time" right before an exam that can be beneficial in improving performance. For example, when students participate in a lecture and take notes by hand, this information is often
lost or not referenced. After a day or week of lectures, students should sit down at a computer or typewriter and rewrite their notes, filling in the gaps
from the lecture and adding materials from the readings while they are still fresh in your mind. This kind of "written review" gives the students brain the opportunity to
integrate material and also provides a connection between the different types of materials (readings and class notes, for example) to improve the understanding of what is being reviewed. In
addition, the student can also write questions after the review period and use these questions to spark class discussions. These notes can then be utilized to help in
studying for the examination. At the same time, the student may demonstrate a greater awareness of the information they have already reviewed because of this early review process, and
so the need for "cramming" may be less. Benefits, then, can be gained from early preparation. For the students who have not prepared in this manner, there are a
