Max Webers views on bureaucracy and might seem so outdated and old-fashioned. There are however, times in which bureaucracy and such organized and regimented behavior is absolutely necessary.
In this case, we will examine Webers theories on bureaucracy as they pertain to hospital management. Although people might chafe at the paperwork and other channels they might have
to go through in order to work with hospital, there is little doubt that Webers theories are certainly essential in this case.
A hospital is in business to cure sick people. As a result, people who work in hospitals take their jobs very seriously. Organization and an understanding of job
duties is essential so people who come into the hospital can be cured and then sent home. Without any sort of bureaucratic structure, chaos would reign, and patients would
likely be killed. In reviewing Webers first item in his bureaucracy theories, he notes the principal of areas that are specifically jurisdictional,
and generally run by fairly specific rules. This is necessary especially in a hospital -- for example, a surgeon just doesnt drag his patient into the operating room on a
moments whim. Doing so would mean that the room would not be available in the event an emergency patient might come into the hospital. This is why the surgeon
goes to the scheduling person to determine when the best time to pluck his/her patient into the room might be. This can be tough on the patient, who might
