(AIDS, 2002). AIDS has been a devastating force in recent years, and is now the fifth leading cause of death among people aged 25 to 44 (AIDS, 2002).
Worldwide, about 47 million people have been infected with HIV (AIDS, 2002). Essentially, the HIV virus attacks the immune system and "leaves the body vulnerable to a variety
of life-threatening illnesses and cancers" (AIDS, 2002). Therefore, people with AIDS can become ill or die from the most common bacteria and germs (AIDS, 2002). The preponderance of
evidence suggests that the only means of transmitting HIV is through blood, semen, vaginal secretions and breast milk, although HIV has also been found in saliva, tears and nervous system
