Essay / Research Paper Abstract
This 6 page paper outlines the problem of HIV/AIDS which is complex because it impacts many different populations and impacts even people who do not participate in risk taking behaviors. Increasingly, researchers are looking at the sexual risk-taking of men and their impacts on the spread of disease in heterosexual populations, based on the continued stigmatization of gay and bisexual men. Stigmatization that is particularly prevalent in African American and Latino populations can lead to a lack of communication about HIV risk that has negatively impacted urban populations. In urban settings like Los Angeles, CA, high concentrations of African American and Hispanic gay and bisexual men and high rates of infection have led researchers to seek some answers about addressing this disease by closer study of this population. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
