Because of this, there has been a definite decrease in religious tolerance in India, leading many to believe that Hinduism could be considered a fairly narrow-tolerant religion.
The ironic factor behind this is that Hinduism isnt necessarily a single religion, but compilation of many religions adapted into this one belief throughout the thousands of years both Hinduism
and India have been in existence. The question has been posed -- when did the idea of Hinduism emerge as the national
religion of India, and why did it emerge as it did? There is no simple answer to either of these questions. Although Hinduism seems to have only recently
emerged as a national religion, it has, in fact, been so closely tied to the development of India as the nation. In this paper, we will examine the history and
