for a span of time after taking control from Richard III. Shakespeares plays, partly propaganda for the day, partly entertainment, tend to give clues to those who are interested in
portraying the monarch and Katherine in the most realistic portrayal. In nearly every King play, the Yorkists were depicted as immoral murderers and the Tudors as the knights on
white horses. He also depicts Henry V as the perfect King in that Henry wins great victories for England in France. He is considered the best king of them all,
according to Shakespeare, because young king Henry V (Hal) spent his youth in the taverns with Falstaff and therefore was one of the people.
Anyone portraying the role of Henry would do well to understand that he spent a good deal of his time building up his reputation among the people. Though it
is actually doubtful that he spent a good deal of his youth in the taverns with such a fellow as Falstaff, he may have done much of the same photo
ops type of activities. Therefore, someone portraying Henrys character may need to keep in mind that he was a calculating individual who knew that the way a king stayed in
power was not necessarily through the might of his military, but from the popularity of a kings subjects. In Henry V, there
are two significant battles. The one battle is noted especially for its very famous lines: "Once more into the breach, dear friends,
