as a comment on modern society, more young people are being diagnosed with heart disease. People in their early thirties are now being diagnosed with blocked arteries from years of indulging in fast food. At this rate, some speculate, heart disease could become THE prevalent threat to mankinds health in this new century. Junk food seems to be synonymous with comfort, and that is for the most part what corporations attempt to convince the public they are selling. Through their advertising gimmicks junk food is made to look glamorous, sexy, comfortable, a reward for oneself. However, the lie is that those sexy models who eat the candies or chow down on the loaded hot dog do not eat those things in real life. If they did they would not look like supermodels for long. They would be fat. They would be like the majority of Americans, overweight and in a health crisis. Ask any adult in their late twenties to sing a jingle from McDonalds, and the version given will more than likely include Hold the pickles, hold the lettuce, special orders dont upset us.... Why after all these years has the jingle become part of the collective consciousness? Because thats the power of advertising. And it is this targeted advertising by big businesses that has contributed in a large part to the decline in the health of the average American citizen. . Terrorist attacks can take many guises and in the end, it will not be someone from the Middle East that destroys the fabric of the American Dream, it will be the average American himself, who has been so encultured as to think that he absolutely MUST have a fast food meal at least one time a week.
