to take into account several trends that could impact its processes, its healthcare delivery and even how it interacts with patients. First and
foremost a healthcare organization cant develop a successful strategic plan without taking into account the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010, better known as "health care reform." Though
the Republicans are threatening appeal of this legislation, there is little doubt that HR 3590 has started to put into place some issues that need careful consideration; the first involving
mandated insurance coverage. The other mandate is that health insurance companies cant turn away anyone who applies for insurance due to a previous condition. Though this is good news on
the one hand, it can lead to other issues, such as higher insurance costs, which well explore later on in this article. At any way, the belief is, that with
more Americans insured by 2013-2014, there will be more demand for primary care physicians - but there seems to be a shrinking of the primary care physician pool. This is
not to suggest there will be an onslaught of patients suddenly banging on hospitals and doctors offices and demanding care. But theres a good chance that, once patients are insured,
the demand for preventative care (i.e., checkups, wellness care and so on) will increase. This also goes beyond primary care physicians and
