flu could kill people with no hope of treatment. These days, in the 21st century, life expectancy has increased so people
are living into their 70s and 80s and beyond with a decent quality of life. The flu doesnt kill as many people as it used to, and survivor rates of
cancer continue to rise. Furthermore, consumers are more willing to take health care matters into their own hands, thanks to more information via the Internet.
But what are some of the future trends in health care? What will we see happening within the next five years or so?
One issue that is getting some interesting play is that of distance delivery when it comes to medical advice and records transmission. Telemedicine, for example, is
one such method by which technology and medical care knowledge are helping patients to better manage their own care. One author suggests
that telemedicine is already having an impact on how healthcare is being delivered (Kohler, 2008). Kohler points out that technology (at least in the United States) is helping doctors keep
track of their patients vital signs in certain situations, which includes blood pressure, pulse, blood sugar levels and so on, which are fed into a computer. This reduces the needs
