one economic situation to the next often open the door to understanding what goes into the success of a nation. A comparison of Japans blockbuster industrialized status to the emerging
status of Indonesia presents some interesting conclusions. Japan is a collection of islands which extends along the eastern or coast of Asia and is approximately 377,835
sq km(World Fact Book 2005). The islands which comprise Japan include: Hokkaido, Honshu (or the mainland), Shikoku, Kyushu, and Okinawa, which is about 380 miles southwest of Kyushu(World Fact
Book 2005). Early organized civilization was brought about, most experts state, due to the cultivation of rice. As of 2004 the populations numbers set Japans population at: 127,333,002(World Fact Book
2005). This rate is increasing at about .08 percent(World Fact Book 2005). Japans early structures and way of life, as it once
was known, is gone. After the bombs were dropped in World War II, that which had sustained the economy of the Japanese country was damaged, destroyed or unrecoverable. However, it
can be said that under the rubble of the wrecked lives of the Japanese people still burned the ideology that would see them, not only recover from the effects of
a World War II defeat, but to enjoy economic growth unrivaled in that part of the world. The political structure is strikingly similar
