Studying for psychology tests can be equally a challenge. Unlike tangible topics, such as accounting or language, psychology, with all of its abstract concepts, can be a true grasp for some people to handle. Experts also say that, compounding the usual difficulty of studying for tests -- especially tests featuring abstract concepts such as psychology - is the battle that is constantly going on in a students subconscious brain. So in addition to the outside fear that a student has when approaching an upcoming test, he or she must also deal with what goes on beneath the surface. Once a student can get the subconscious and conscious minds working in tandem, studying for a psychology test can be made easier. In order to better understand exactly what goes on in the subconscious mind, it helps to understand what noted psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud believed. His belief (which continues to be supported by Freudians today) was that three forces; the id, the ego and the superego drove the subconscious. According to Freud, it is these three forces that need to get along in order for us to function as whole human beings (Ego, Id, Super-Ego, see also Brenner). The id, which represents the minds biological force, is the part of the mind that is devoted purely to pleasure, hedonism and generally what feels good(Ego, Id, Super-Ego, see also Brenner).
