another person. While it is true how gun control in and of itself will not curb the violent streak that lives within an individual - nor will it lessen
the number of violent acts committed on a daily basis - control advocates argue it will serve to deter the level of fatalities as a result of gun shot wounds.
Proponents of gun control realize that any such restriction will not likely stop an assault - in fact, it will ultimately force the perpetrator to switch weapons to a
knife or other implement of war - but they continue to point to ill-defined statistics showing how wounds sustained by a knife are far "less likely to be fatal" (Kleck
286) than those inflicted by a gunshot. II. LITERATURE REVIEW In what can only be heralded as an irony of grand proportions,
antigun activists are not opposed to removing firearms from the criminal hand; rather, they are opposed to removing them from the law abiding citizen who often needs a gun to
protect himself from the very criminal element of society who will always have access to firearms. Charleton Heston, perhaps the most outspoken advocate of the right to bear arms,
