but it also has many relevant aspects, by looking at this and applying this to a well known organisation we can assess the applicability of the model and also seen
some of the short falls. For this we are going to apply the model to the well known fast food chain McDonalds. We will look at each dimension of the
model individually. The first dimension is that of strategic integration (Guest, 1987). Today there is a great deal of literature proposing the use of HRM in terms of strategy,
with the need to support strategy as well as being a part of it rather than simply flowing from strategy (Gurest, 1987). The use of human vital and
management of the human resources are some of the most difficult aspects of strategy management. In managing these efficiently there is the potential to gain a competitive advantage from HRM.
There are many aspects of successful integration, one of these is the attitude of the line managers (Guest, 1987). They need to understand the strategic importance of HRM and
work in am manner that reflects this understanding. In applying this to McDonalds there are several aspects we can consider. There is the need for staff in terms of
the strategy, the capabilities and attitude of the staff, even the way in which there is, whilst on duty , the demand for emotional labour as much as physical labour,
