Essay / Research Paper Abstract
A 5 page paper. The 85 and older age group is the fastest growing population in the U.S. What can these folks do to retain their sense of integrity and their self-confidence and self-esteem? There are no norms of behavior or stages of development for the elderly, unlike younger age groups. As one author said, they are making up the norms as they go along. This paper discusses some of the issues and some ideas for how this growing population can maintain integrity while losing some roles and taking on new ones. The essay uses the student's text book as a source.

a long lifetime through theater, music, the arts and critical commentary" (Your text, p. 515). This "psychohistorical perspective contributes to the wisdom the very old bring to their understanding of
the meaning of life" (Your text, p. 515). The very old knows about the uncertainties in life and they have lived through many of lifes lessons (Your text, p. 515).
More people in this age group is also evidence of a psychosocial evolution where each living generation contributes to the next and wherein the older generation can provide a sense
of history to the younger generations (Your text, p. 515). While there are behavioral norms and expectations for all other age groups, there are none for this population because it
