beneficial, but teambuilding tends to hold an important role within most companies. In order for teambuilding to happen, the difference between groups and teams needs to be clarified.
A group is simply two or more people who happen to work in perhaps the same department, doing the same tasks (Tammemagi, 2010). The
group members may be friends. They may spend a great deal of time together. They are not, however, working for the exact same goal. They may perform the same tasks,
but on an individual level (Tammemagi, 2010). They may even support and help each other with their work, but ultimately each person in the group is looking toward their own
goals. A group can be very large in number, but that does not make a group stronger. The strength of a group lies in its ability to become a team
and handle having a leader (David, 2009). It is easy to create a group by placing individuals with similar interests or traits
together (David, 2009). For example, a room full of accountants is simply a group. You can make the group smaller by filtering the people by age, amount of experience, or
gender, but its still a group. They may be able to share stories regarding their experiences, but they dont feed off of each others ideas to reach a common goal
