A team is comprised of a small number of people who have come together for a shared goal. Both groups and teams are found in the workplace. There is more
cohesion in a team than in most groups. There are, however, different levels of work groups, which are identified as dependent, independent and interdependent (Wiley Publishing, 2010). Departments in an
organization is an example of dependent groups. Each member of this kind of group performs their specific job. Each member also has a supervisor (Wiley Publishing, 2010). Each person in
an independent level work group has job responsibilities but the supervisor acts more like a guide than a boss. The interdependent level work group is comprises of employees who
are dependent upon each other to complete their job(Wiley Publishing, 2010). The interdependence practiced in this last group level transform the group into a team. For a group of people
to be a team, they must share a common goal. They are accountable at both the individual level and the team level. Teams plan together, make decisions, solve problems and
complete the task. Interdependence is the hallmark of a well-functioning team (Wiley Publishing, 2010). Interdependence means that the whole team succeeds together or fail together and no members job cannot
