on. This paper examines the group dynamics that might be found in a summer camp setting. Discussion A summer camp staff is unusual in that they are responsible for the
safety of campers, usually children, which is a great responsibility, and at the same time theyre supposed to make the experience fun. This requires a staff that genuinely enjoys what
they do as well as having the patience to deal with sometimes unruly children, pranks and other matters. New staff members often are former campers who like the experience and
decide to transition into a staff position (Project sunshine: summer camp training manual). Others apply for positions as camp staff via various websites; there are a number of them up
and running that encourage applications. Camps today are not merely for children; programs are also run for families, seniors, adults and special groups with similar interests (Opportunities in summer camp
careers, 2008). There is a need for many different personnel to fill slots such as camp director, camp administrator, assistant director, trip leader, facilities manager and food service director,
and there is a definite hierarchy (Opportunities in summer camp careers, 2008). The title "camp director" usually refers to a person "who is directly involved with the operation and
management of a camp program and whose duties cover both administration and program" (Opportunities in summer camp careers, 2008). The camp administrator coordinates and administers more than one program, "relying
on support form the onsite director or program director" (Opportunities in summer camp careers, 2008). The associate director assists the administrator and the trip leader is the person who is
