world discovered that the big American banks had usurped everything for themselves. They had been whining (Moore, 2009) about the government handing out taxes to everyone for an equal share
of some of lifes necessities, claiming that even though no one in their highest offices was producing, the real fault lie with a more democratic approach where everyone gets a
share of their own productivity and wages, not just the bank presidents. As this demonstrates, the problem with big banks and objectivism
like Rands is that the believers dont believe or care when people are dying of starvation or lack of shelter and other necessities. Like John Galt in Atlas Shrugged, big
banks and big corporations dont care to have any responsibility for the other guy. Somehow, it is their right to steal all that everyman has, including siphoning off the big
inventors. The only problem is that Rand makes the mistake of blaming the theft on the U.S.S.R. government when the real theft
takes place in the workplace in a capitalist nation. Under capitalism, banks and financiers control all the money. In fact, the American government doesnt steal everything; it is the opposite
of the world she creates, which is why Galts objectivism does not fly. His ideals are hollow and mean spirited, just like the true usurpers on Wall Street.
Contrasting Type and Character Rand plays effectively against type and character in Atlas Shrugged. In her world,
