and how do they differ? It is well known that the Romans borrowed the concept of the god from the Greeks, but simply changed their names. In
some way, it does appear that the Greeks took the concept of the gods more seriously. At the same time, both Greek and Roman views held the same types of
Gods as controlling the world which is rather significant. Long contends that Greek and Roman mythology are almost identical, a position embraced by most knowledgeable in the field (Long PG).
However, he adds that it is also accepted that the mythology of the Vikings have many similarities to Greek myths (PG). Thus, because the Viking, or Norse, myths are
similar to the Greeks, one has to suspect that the Roman myths are slightly different. There is a sense that because the Greek myths appeared first, they are the original
and therefore more significant and the people who created them were somewhat more serious. Question Two: Do Odysseus and Aeneas match the mythic aspect of what a hero
is supposed to be? The answer to this question is mixed. Aeneas for example does live up to some aspects of what a hero is, but because he actually
does provoke Didos suicide one has to question to what extent he would embrace the label of hero. At the same time, besides the intricate love triangles contained in the
work, inclusive of the ideas concerning bloodline and marriage and so forth, Aeneas does fight to the death and is the ultimate victor. He wins all of the physical battles
