information on using this paper properly! Gratuities are a frightening, messy thing capable of filling even the most hard nose businessman with a deep sense of dread. How much
to tip and who to tip are two of the hardest questions to answer. The reason is that the topic of gratuity is so murky and muddied that confuses many
people. The basic idea of a gratuity is to show gratitude for a service. Tipping the server at a restaurant is a fine example of a gratitude based tip. What
about those professions that the public owes a great deal of gratitude to like police officers or other public safety professionals? Does this group deserve a tip for all their
hard work? This paragraph helps the student present a summary of the concept of gratuity. Beginning in sixteenth century England, the etiquette of tipping was established (Azar, 2004). At a
glance the policies and procedures on gratuity might seem a little illogical. For instance, servers at restaurants receive a tip but the guy frying up those fries sees nothing in
way of tips. Opponents of gratuity claim that tipping the server but not the person working in the fast food restaurant is unfair. These same opponents champion the idea that
tipping itself should be abolished in all its forms. The reason gratuity exists in many fields is to make up for a painful wage gap. Servers are paid well before
