like the average grandparent today, but more like the grandparent we dream about from days gone by. In the following paper we discuss the changing roles of grandparents today, emphasizing
how Brenda stands out as a devoted and much needed reality in our ever weakening culture of family in the United States. Grandparents Today Even though the knowledge
and wisdom of grandparents is unequaled by all other family members, added with the reality that people are living longer, thus giving us more time to appreciate and experience the
wisdom and love of grandparents, too many people dismiss their parents, and their childrens grandparents in this fast paced society. Parents are put into nursing homes more often than not,
and the grandchildren are rarely, if ever, finding themselves privy to the love and wisdom of their grandparents. In the case of Brenda we note that she may be
younger than many grandparents, but she is incredibly involved as one of her favorite hobbies involves playing with her three grandchildren. She also visits her parents every day, or every
other day, keeping in close contact with them. In addition, she is active in the lives of cousins, a sibling, and aunts and uncles. In todays society this all but
unheard of for the average white individual. It is perhaps not uncommon for some cultural groups such as the Hispanic who are known for close family ties. But, for the
