A.D. (Mellowes, 1998; NIV, 1995). John Mark was an associate of Peter, the Apostle. It is believed that John Mark followed Peter, listening to his preaching and then, transcribed Peters
lessons about the words and activities of Jesus Christ (NIV, 1995). Further evidence of the authorship comes from Papias, bishop of Hierapolis who identified John Mark as the author of
the Gospel (Smith, 2008; NIV, 1995). John Mark also traveled with Paul and Barnabas and with Timothy but it was Peters teachings he transcribed. Marks Gospel was written in Rome
and most probably for Gentile readers (NIV, 1995). Mark reports the persecution of Christians and scholars tend to believe that Mark was warning Christians of the persecution they might suffer
but he reminds them of the suffering Christ experienced (NIV, 1995). There is a logical outline in Marks Gospel. It begins with the beginning of Christs ministry being
baptized by John and his 40 days of suffering in the desert. It moves on to Christs ministry in Galilee, including Christs calls to the Apostles, and including miracles during
the early and later ministry in Galilee. Mark tells the reader that Christ left Galilee and went to both the Western and Eastern shores of the Sea of Galilee and
then, left the area for Judea and Perea. Beginning with Chapter 11, Mark recounts Christs Passion and His triumph through Resurrection. Chapter 1 is about the Lord coming as was
prophesied in the Old Testament. It speaks of repentance and remission of sins. In this Chapter, we read about Christs baptism, His suffering and temptation, His preaching and calling of
His Apostles and His curing of Peters mother--in-law as well as Christ cleansing a leper (Henry, 1706). Healing occurs in Chapter 2, as well and it also reports that Christ
