1995 and within a years time was a major email provider (Hild & Mitchell, 2004). The concept of MSN Hotmail was to allow people to have email accounts without paying
for a service provider (Hild & Mitchell, 2004). Obviously, the use of the service is free, but one will need to get online in some manner, and that would cost
money. At the same time, many people would find that if they did not want to pay for a service provider they could get a Hotmail account and access it
in the library, at school, at work and at the homes of friends and family. Therefore, having a Hotmail account was a good idea. Many people decided that they would
get a free account in addition to their paid one because at the time, e-mail addresses were at a premium and so, one could have a Hotmail address to give
out and another to use for business purposes. At Hotmail, there would more than 30 million users in 1999 (Hild & Mitchell, 2004, p.8). Hotmail was a success, but it
would not be completely free for long. In 2002, it began to charge for some services (Hild & Mitchell, 2004). Extra storage space for example would be billed at a
rate of close to thirty dollars per year (Hild & Mitchell, 2004). Yahoo came on the scene in 1994 (Hild & Mitchell, 2004). The Yahoo web site began as a
